“Never heard of Progressive Combat Systems…..

Or the art of Jeet Kune Do?”

Well, let me tell you…

Progressive Combat Systems is the best kept secret in martial arts. Only those few privileged people that know where to look and know what to look for, have discovered the many benefits of our program. Unlike any other martial arts, Progressive Combat Systems is a very dynamic and as the name suggests progressive martial arts school.

“Our Lineage can be traced back to arguably the greatest martial artist of all time…Bruce Lee”

Hi, my name is Arthur Ligopantis, founder of Progressive Combat Systems. For the last thirty seven years, I’ve invested the majority of my life learning the many facets of the martial arts. In addition to that, I’ve also been fortunate enough, to have trained under some of the world’s greatest martial artists of our time, legendary martial artist like Guro Dan Inosanto, right hand man and protégé to the most famous martial artist of all time, Bruce Lee and his personal combat system of Jeet Kune Do. Sifu Larry Hartsell, “grappling partner of the late Bruce Lee.” Paul Vunak, trainer of the prestigious Seal Team Six and numerous other Law enforcement groups. Master Chai Sirisute, world’s number one Muay Thai instructor. Other instructors include “Judo” Gene Lebell, Gokor Chivichyan, Sensei Erik Paulson, Jean Jacques Machado & Ray Floro, just to name a few.

Why am I telling you all this…?

Because I want to share with you the ultimate experience in martial arts and fitness. You see, there are martial arts… “then there are martial arts.” Most people join a martial arts class with the expectation of reaching a black belt within a certain amount of time without truly developing an understanding of that art. Progressive Combat Systems has developed an eight phase rotating curriculum geared to take you from beginner, to advanced level over a four year period. Not only will you have reached a very high level of development after that four year period, but you will also posses an aura of confidence that comes from learning the most efficient fighting system ever devised by man…the art of Jeet Kune Do.

What is Jeet Kune Do …?

Jeet Kune Do literally means “the way of the intercepting fist”. It’s an amazing art form developed by Bruce Lee himself. It is on a physical level about self preservation however, the many health benefits associated by practising this art, are numerous. From the moment you experience your first class you’ll understand why Progressive Combat Systems is different to anything else you may have tried.

No time is wasted on convoluted stances or katas. During your first lesson, you can expect to be up on your toes hitting focus mitts, developing a range of different tools and attributes. Progressive Combat Systems is not a tournament orientated school, it is on a physical level about developing self-preservation skills. Although combative sports such as boxing, wrestling and kickboxing can be found within our curriculum, they are present only for the purpose of developing attributes necessary for combat. Anyone witnessing a class will be amazed at how much material is covered with nothing held back. The highly trained instructors will put you through the same drills Guro Dan Inosanto uses to develop himself and his students to a very high level.

“You can expect all this and more…”

Many Personal Fitness instructors all over the world have discovered the benefits of Boxing and Pad work as means to get people in shape, lose weight and develop cardiovascular conditioning. Whilst it’s great to see the rapid growth of these alternative classes, what most people don’t realise, are the origins of the pad drills we simply take for granted.Asearly as the 1960’s, Guro Dan Inosanto & his famous teacher wereusing focus mitts as part of their daily training program.
Although most people viewed this legend as a movie star, the reality is, he was a martial artist & pioneer of expressing the human body. He realized very early, that in order to develop his body in top fighting condition, he had to research many areas of human development.

His thirst for knowledge in the areas of physiology, kinesiology, fitness, nutrition and of course combat was evident by his personal library consisting of more than two thousand books. Through his personal fighting style, he developed many combative drills for the use of the focus mitts. In addition to their combat application, the focus mitts also served as an avenue for total body conditioning in the areas of upper and lower body strength, cardiovascular conditioning and proper bio-mechanical execution of all techniques.

The Progressive Combat Systems pad workout is about fine-tuning the athlete, it is a higher level of training whereby no static movements exist & emphasis is on aliveness. Throughout the early stages, the student is taught various pad positions then slowly introduced to the many tools by which the pads can be hit. Each phase taking the student to a higher level of training, whereby the student is freelancing many hand & foot combinations then having the feeder return many more variables or counter attacks to the sound of energizing music. This type of workout not only develops the student combatively but more importantly gets the heart pumping and promotes overall conditioning and muscle endurance. Studies have shown that several sessions of pad work can:

  • Burn up to 2500 kilojoules per session
  • Improve efficiency of heart & lungs
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Increase blood supply, especially red blood cells & hemoglobin
  • Makes body tissue healthier as it gets more oxygen
  • Conditions heart
  • Promotes better sleep
  • Promotes toning & muscular strength
  • Helps improve hand/eye coordination
  • Improve timing
  • Improve balance & footwork

These training sessions are not only fun & challenging but in particular are suitable for women, because it strengthens and firms the lower abdomen, hips and inner thighs. These areas when conditioned restore muscle tone and health, improving overall appearance. In addition to the physical conditioning, Progressive Combat Systems is also about developing self preservation skills & having the confidence to deal with aggression head on, as all the pad drills transcend to what they were originally designed for… combat.

“Progressive Combat Systems through Guro Dan Inosanto’s teachings, have designed unique programs toward total and complete conditioning workouts”.
